Time Now to Sow Spinach for a Fall Harvest
Usually gardeners stop harvesting spinach with the arrival of summer heat, but you can aim for a second crop… in fall! Just sow spinach seeds in pot in mid-August and place the pot in a clear plastic bag in the fridge. Surprisingly, spinach is one of the rare plants that germinates better under cool temperatures. When the seeds germinate, place the pot outside so they grow in size a it, then plant them in the garden in September for a delicious fall harvest can continue until severe frosts.
In the fridge…me hubby’s going to complain about that 🙂 Oh well, he’s always complaining about something. What’s the diff?
My wife tolerated the nematodes in the fridge, but put her foot down when I told her I wanted to try worm composting in the basement.
