Laidback Gardener Tip of the Day

Time Now to Sow Spinach for a Fall Harvest

août 15Usually gardeners stop harvesting spinach with the arrival of summer heat, but you can aim for a second crop… in fall! Just sow spinach seeds in pot in mid-August and place the pot in a clear plastic bag in the fridge. Surprisingly, spinach is one of the rare plants that germinates better under cool temperatures. When the seeds germinate, place the pot outside so they grow in size a it, then plant them in the garden in September for a delicious fall harvest can continue until severe frosts.
