Seeds to Sow: Early May

20150315You thought the indoor sowing season inside was over? Not at all! There are still a lot of plants it’s worth sowing indoors. These are typically the fast-growing plants that should not be sown too early, otherwise they start to stretch indoors, yet they still benefit from a bit of heat early in their development, something you simply can’t guarantee outdoors this early in the year. Here are a few examples:

  • African Marigold (Tagetes erecta)
  • Ageratum (Ageratum houstonianum)
  • Annual Baby’s Breath (Gypsophila elegans)
  • Annual Flax (Linum grandiflorum, L. usitatissimum and others)
  • Annual Gaillardia (Gaillardia pulchella)
  • Baby Blue Eyes (Nemophila spp.)
  • Balsamine (Impatiens balsamina)
  • Basil (Ocimum basilicum)
  • Batchelor’s Button (Centaurea cyanus and others)
