Sometimes gardeners become so used to sophisticated techniques and magic insecticide formulas that we forget that the simplest means can also be effective.
One example is that a strong spray of water from a garden hose is often all you need to reduce a population of aphids or spider mites to almost zero. Repeat the treatment if you see any signs of recovery.
