Less Fertilizer = Tastier Herbs

20160412A.jpgThe more plants are “fed”, especially with a fertilizer rich in nitrogen, the more quickly they grow. However, in the case of herbs, this faster growth comes at a cost: it dilutes their flavor.

Lightly fertilized herbs grow less rapidly but their cells are richer in essential oils, leading to a more intense flavor. A location in well-drained soil and full sun will also help to concentrate the taste.

So don’t overfeed herbs and you’ll really be able to enjoy their taste!
