Don’t Prune Near A Power Line

Never prune anywhere near a power line! Illustration: Hydro Ontario

Never prune or cut dow a tree within 10 feet (3 m) of a high or medium voltage power line. There is too much danger that you, the branch or tree you cut, or the tool you’re holding might accidentally touch the wire … and there could be an electrical arc even if there is no direct contact.

If there is any pruning to do within 10 feet (3 m) of a power line, contact your utility company for more information. They’ll be able to send or recommend a certified arborist.

Yes, you’ll have to pay for the service … but better that than risk losing your life!
