Multiplying Genetically Sterile Hybrids

Due to the genetic sterility of hybrid sweet alyssums and lobelias, you can’t propagate them by seed. Instead, they are best reproduced by taking stem cuttings. The easiest way to do so is to bring mother plants indoors in the autumn, then take cuttings from them come spring. This will provide lots of color cheaply for your summer gardens.
